The Happy Baby Philosophy

  • According to the World Health Organization (WHO), access to nutrition is a basic human right. The WHO and The Canadian Paediatric Society agree that human milk is the optimal food for infants and young children. We believe that the support and education required to make human milk feeding a success is therefore basic medical care that should be available to all.

  • The feeding methods and routines that each family uses must work for them. Babies eat a lot (like… a lot) in those first weeks, and its tricky to navigate parental mental health, the demands of work and older children, and the frequent feedings of infants. At The Happy Baby we aim to balance what is optimal with what is prudent for each unique family.

  • Your mom says “breast is best”, your neighbour formula-fed her twins and they grew up tall and intelligent, a nurse in the hospital told you your baby needs formula to survive. We will help you decide by dispelling myths, providing science-based education and supporting you wherever that takes you.

  • Infant feeding is one of the earliest parenting decisions you will make, and everyone will have an opinion on it. By arming yourself with concrete facts about infant physiology, normal behaviour, sleeping and eating patterns, and nutritional needs you can feel confident in your choices and rest easy that you know what is best for your baby and your family.
