Questions

  • Any reason is a “good reason”. Do you feel overwhelmed by your infant’s needs? Do you need help with strategies to make feeding and caring for a new baby work for your family? Do you have questions or need reassurances? Are you experiencing pain, discomfort or fear around feeding?

  • Ideally, no! Although some discomfort and “overuse” of nipples can appear in those first days of feeding, finding yourself in tears over pain, or with broken or bleeding skin is not normal or sustainable. If your toes curl when you latch your baby, or if you can’t even stand the feeling of your bra touching your body, then these are signs that you need some help. Don’t keep suffering, let me help!

  • Its true that Artificial Baby Milk (ABM or “formula”) changes your baby’s gut bacteria and digestion. ABM is a powerful tool in supporting the mental health of parents, allowing babies to feed in a variety of situations where they are separated from a lactating parent and myriad other uses! Our goal is to find a feeding routine that works for you and your family, that is based off informed choices.

  • Thats ok. Feeding looks different for every family. I’m here to answer your questions without judgement of your choices. By arming yourself with concrete facts about infant physiology, normal behaviour, sleeping and eating patterns, and nutritional needs you can feel confident in your choices and rest easy that you know what is best for your baby and your family.

  • Lactation support appointments can vary from $0 to $200/hr. Check out our services page to understand our current pricing and insurance coverage.

  • Whether your visit is in a clinic, the hospital, at home or in a shared space, you can expect some of the same elements: A detailed history and understanding of your needs and current situation, an assessment of baby’s physiology and suck skills, a weight check, an assessment of the lactating parent, a flange fitting, a feeding of baby with troubleshooting and education throughout, and a detailed care plan to take home.

  • Lots of infant feeding support can be accomplished in one visit! Some parents choose to stay in touch, some schedule recurring visits for additional help or progress on a complex issue, and others “pop up” again in a few months with new questions, or with a new baby!
